Brief history of the Vidyalaya

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chittoor was established in 1986-87 by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization set up under the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.  The Vidyalaya is affiliated to C.B.S.E. New Delhi.
Initially the Vidyalaya was temporarily located in the buildings of AP Travel & Tourism Development Corporation at Horsley Hills and continued there from 1986-87 to 1991-92. Subsequently the A.P. state Government allotted 43.94 acres of land to the Vidyalaya at Valasapalle village, 5 Kms from Madanapalle on the Madanapalle-Chittoor Road.
The construction of the buildings was handed over to National Industrial Corporation Ltd., New Delhi. The Zero phase was completed in the year 1992. The lower classes were shifted to the permanent site in July 92’ and the higher classes remained in the temporary site till the completion of phase I works at the permanent site in May 95’. The full Vidyalaya is functioning at permanent site w.e.f. 1995.
      With benevolent support from Chairman VMC, Shri.Ravichandra IAS, the following works were completed with the total funding from the District Administration.
1. Mineral water plant(Rs.2,77,000)
2. 20 KV Kirloskar Generator (Rs.4,01,085 )and room to house the
3. Upgrading the computer lab with tiles and other necessary
4. 5 HP Kirloskar self priming sewage mono block pump     
    (Rs.23,915 )
5. Street Lighting(Rs.36,113)
6. Fly Traps in the Dining Hall(Rs.20,000)
1.    Emulsion Painting (exterior) of Boys dormitory.
2.    White washing (interior) of all dormitories.
3.    Painting of doors and windows.
In addition to the above , attended the complaints received from staff members,   school perfects,  house  Captains regarding plumbing work, Electrical work,   Carpentry work,   Mason work,   repair   of   Ceiling fans etc., from time to time.
1. Repair/Replacement of Bathroom Doors in dormitories, Staff Quarters   
    and  Academic Block
2. Mesh Door for New Quarters.
3. Repair and Painting of Desks
4. Welding of Cots, gate in mess etc.,
5. Cleaning of water tanks in dormitories, Quarters, Academic Block
    and Mess etc.,
6. Plastering of Floors of Washing area, Gas Room, dormitories, class
    rooms and footpath from Dining Hall to Girls Dormitory.
7. Repair of ceiling fans and wall mounted fans.
8. Fixing of Sodium Vapour Lamps and Street Lights.
9. Replacement of Tube lights, Chokes, starters etc.,
10. Cleaning of Bushes & unwanted plants near dormitories, Mess, Academic  Building.
11. White Washing of Vidyalaya Compound Wall, Dormitory and
     Academic Block.
In addition to the above to attend the complaints received from staff members, school perfects, house Captains regarding plumbing work, Electrical work, Carpentry work, Mason work, Repair of Ceiling fans etc., from time to time..
 Organisational set up. The headquarters of the Vidyalaya is at New Delhi and Regional Offices are established at 1. Bhopal 2. Chandigarh 3. Jaipur 4.Lucknow 5. Pune 6. Shillong 7. Patna and 8. Hyderabad. JNV Chittoor comes under the jurisdiction of the regional office at Hyderabad.
